Still Life in color

A still life. medium oil. 16x20. Done during an oil painting class.  Toned the canvas with blue the night before unaware of the subject matter at the time. Used chalk for placement of objects. An under-painting was created by scumbling white paint over the toned canvas in order to separate light and shadow. White being the light and the blue tone representing shadow. Once satisfied with the tonal arrangement color was applied in layers working up in thickness. A green apple was to sit on the box behind the bear but went unfinished due to time constraints on the project but  the under-painting is there.

A still Life Tonal Study

I did this still life as a study in value.
